Amplifying Voices is a collaboration between The Rural Media Company, BBC Radio 4/Radio Drama and the communities of Ewyas Harold and Kington to create a highly innovative project that combines the mediums of radio, film and the web with community participation.
The project will give each community the opportunity to create two original 45-minute radio plays and two accompanying films that capture the sounds and images of contemporary rural life, together with the voices, lives, stories and histories of the rural border regions of England and Wales
The two plays will be broadcast in the Afternoon Play slot on Radio 4 (2.15-3.00pm) and will be accessible via the BBC iplayer service enabling the audience to view as they listen to the radio, and a global audience to discover after the plays have been broadcast.
Local residents will have the opportunity to work with professionals from Rural Media and the BBC to develop, shape and create the radio plays and films.
The next meetings will be held on Monday 6th September at Ewyas Harold Memorial Hall and Wednesday 8th September at 7pm at Kington Primary School, the plays and films will be broadcast next Spring/Summer
