The Gadget Show
Each week on the Gadget Show, the team – Jason Bradbury, Suzi Perry, Jon Bentley, Ortis Deley and Pollyanna Woodward – test, punish and push every conceivable type of technology to the limit, facing challenges as varied as designing a flying machine, making their own special effects laden movie and racing across the Abu Dhabi desert.
The team scour the globe for the latest and most breathtaking new tech from autonomous humanoid robots to personal submarines, as well as giving clear, definitive advice on the best gadgets to buy from digital cameras to vacuum cleaners. All that and TV’s most incredible competition!
The Gadget Show is made by North One Midlands from a studio and offices based in Digbeth, near Birmingham city centre. It has been running on Channel 5 since 2004 and now around 40 hour long programmes a year are shown at 8pm on Monday night – reaching audiences of 2 million people.
In addition to the main programme, there are also 52 Gadget Show Web exclusive TV programmes made each year and there is an annual Gadget Show Live exhibition over 4 days at the NEC in Birmingham which attracts 70,000 people.
Director David Leighton said, "Being a Midlands based production, more than half of The Gadget Show is made in and around Birmingham – though we travel extensively all over the world to find some of the most amazing tech on the planet. But for us Birmingham is perfect when we need impressive locations for our items – from displaying a gigantic digital photo of presenter Suzi Perry on Millennium Point to filming presenter Jason Bradbury using gadgets to climb, unaided, 100 foot up the side of Fort Dunlop by the side of the M6 Motorway."
