Film Birmingham is the first stop for filming requests.

The idea is that instead of calling different departments within Birmingham City Council for things like permissions to film, parking and road closures, you simply follow the procedure below and the request will be processed on your behalf.

Birmingham's Film Charter shows Birmingham City Council's commitment to making filming as easy and efficient as possible. Our system means that you only have one initial point of contact for filming requests.

The requests system
PAPERWORK
For all filming requests you must fill in a Filming Request form (click here to download). Film Birmingham will then be able to identify exactly where you will require council involvement before filming starts. All film-makers are required to read and sign our Code of Practice (download here) before filming can commence. You must also provide us with a copy of your Public Liability Insurance (minimum £5m) and your Risk Assessment (click here to download guidelines).

FAX
Fax the completed paperwork to 0121 675 3891:
- Request Form
- Code of Practice
- Public Liability Insurance
- Risk Assessment

REQUEST PROCESSED
Film Birmingham will then contact the relevant department(s) on your behalf. Birmingham City Council has a nominated officer in each department to deal with filming requests.

ECONOMIC IMPACT FORM

When filming is complete, you must return a confidential Economic Impact form (download here) within 28 days.

If you have any questions, please contact Matthew Stanton,  Film Birmingham Manager. You can email him or phone 0121 675 3883.
