The Screen West Midlands-supported digital
short The Un-Gone has been selected to screen at the
Curzon Soho Short Film Summer School HD showcasing screening as an
example of high definition video technology in action in a
short.
The film, written and directed by Simon Bovey, tranports the
audience to a near-future world where global travel is as simple as
stepping into a threshold and rematerialising moments later in your
chosen destination. The ambitious sci-fi tale was shot on HD on a
budget of £9,000 provided by Screen West Midlands and the UK Film
Council's New Cinema Fund.
The Curzon Soho Short Film Summer School runs from 12th-15th
July and features a wealth of screenings, seminars and events
covering every aspect of short filmmaking. The HD showcase
comprises 8 shorts all originated on HD competing for HD-related
prizes, and the winner will be selected by a jury including
cinematographer Billy Ackroyd (United 93, The Wind That Shakes The
Barley) and scriptwriter Tony Grisoni (Fear & Loathing In Las
Vegas, In This World).
