Summary: Lots of opportunities to get involved

Hi Local Shorties,
it feels like this long winter is finally coming to an end - let's hope
so....
So here we are with our spring news and best wishes for the Easter
Break!

First of all, please put the next Local Shorts Film Club in your
diaries, it will be the last one of our current season, with no further
dates confirmed at this stage!!
Come on down to the Library Theatre on Wed 29th of April, bar from 6pm,
films after 7pm.
We have just managed to get Tony Jopia as our guest speaker, having
shown 2 of his very early films previously, he has now moved up a few
steps, is busy in TV-land and his current 'Spooked' pilot is well worth
a visit to:
http://spookedfilms.com/spookedseries.html . His co-producer and writer
Steve Bishop will also be there for the Q &A!
Also, please don't leave it to the last minute to enter your films this
time (as usually), because we are on holiday just prior to the film club
-  we intend to finalise the programme just after Easter, so please send
us your web-links or DVDs now!!
Good reading makes the Post BAFTA Blog (like the rest of their blogs) by
the Brothers McLeod, on their experience of the BAFTAs and
celebrities....

Last but not least, there are several opportunities below to get
involved in film projects, please contact the authors below directly,
not us. Also a bit of training at the end.

Best wishes and hope to see you all at the next Local Shorts,

Producer / crew required:

The premise for the project is as follows,

The long hot summer of 1990 is in full effect, three bored kids with
time on their hands look for something to do or break, preferably both.
Index is thirteen, the big cheese of the crew, Lingo, also thirteen is
his best friend, though he often wonders why, finally there is Jin, the
frail nine year old, younger brother of Index, the stray who always end
up tagging along.
They embark on a pre Asbo adventure, a walk on the wild side through the
canals of the industrial heartland leading to a chain of events that
will leave you shaken..

The proposed project was short listed by Screen West Midlands in their
recent Digi Shorts contest.Dan Lawson at the organisation can be called
to verify this. I am looking for a producer to come on board the project
to 'hold my hand' as it will be the first time I use a crew. Any help
will be sincerely appreciated as I feel the project has great potential
that can be realised with the help of a professional producer who can
hire crew and organise the shoot. The project will be self financed with
an estimated budget of £7500.

Hi Folks
I am having a fund raiser to help pay for making my next film on
Saturday May 9th Hare & Hounds, Kings Heath 8pm - 2 am
It?s a micro-budget feature length ?Rapunzel on Smack? tale called
Paper Aeroplane. It will star my co-producer/actor friend Kriss Dosanjh
(This is England, East is East, Dirty Pretty Things) plus hopefully some
other known talent.

We?re shooting in August for 9 days from the 15th using a volunteer
cast and crew. We still need some basic budget for things like camera
and equipment hire, insurance, food, travel expenses etc, and thus the
fundraiser.

Hope you can all make it/publicize it. Anyone that wants to help with
other fund raising ideas is also welcome to get in touch.

Tickets will be available at a cost of £7 per head. Let me know how
many you want.

I?m hoping to sell all 120 tickets to this gala night of Bands, DJs and
Grand Raffle with cash and other prizes kindly donated by local
businesses.
See you there
Brendan
