GENRE TRAINING
plus development meetings with UK’s top producers
Throughout September and October The Script Factory will run a series of seven practical workshops, each one focused on a particular genre.
First launched in Spring this year, the Genre Season is a series of highly practical one-day workshops designed to help writers, producers and script developers transcend the universal principles of storytelling and grapple with the particular demands and nuances of their chosen genre.
How do you generate an atmosphere of tension in a Thriller, make love believable in a Romantic Comedy or sustain fear in a Horror?Taught by experienced writers and developers, each one-day workshop is a combination of lecture and vibrant group discussions. Once the training is completed, participants on this programme will be eligible to apply for our Friendly Producers scheme and the chance to benefit from a one-to-one development meeting with one of the UK’s most influential and approachable producers.
After attending one or more session in the current Genre Season, all participants will be invited to submit the first 10 pages of their current project, accompanied by a 2-page story outline. Three writers will be selected and each will benefit from a one-to-one development meeting with one of our three latest ‘Friendly Producers’.
We are delighted that Andy Harries, Robin Gutch and Kate Ogborn have all agreed to meet with a writer to offer individual feedback on their project as well as invaluable career advice. The Genre Season workshops each run from 10am - 5pm. Places are limited to15 participants on each workshop and the cost of attending a workshop is £100+VAT (total £117.50) with special rates for Script Factory Members.
