FILM FANS GET NETWORKED IN THE MIDLANDS
Film fans who ‘do it themselves’ have the opportunity to get together at an event to be held in Solihull on Saturday 9th June.
The British Federation of Film Societies (BFFS) and Screen WM have organised a free event where film clubs and community cinema representatives will meet up to share experiences and find out how their colleagues screen films and attract audiences.
Regional Partnerships Administrator for Screen WM, Louisa Dempsey says: ‘Film Societies are able to get right to the heart of communities. They play a vital role in enabling and encouraging local audiences to access a wide range of cinema that they might not normally have the chance to see.’
The BFFS facilitates a growing network of volunteer-run screens around the UK via its supported Regional Groups. Local specialists within these Groups share their experience and successfully provide invaluable, hands-on advice and support to both new and established film societies, clubs and touring cinemas.
Strategy Office for BFFS, Julia Vickers says: ‘The West Midlands area contains a large number of exciting and vibrant community cinema ventures. By holding the event in this region we will enable the formation of a BFFS West Midlands Regional Group to provide critical ongoing support needed by these volunteer-led organisations, and that will encourage the formation of other such ventures.’
The event is being held at the Arts Complex in Solihull’s Library Square.
