Current TV are launching in the UK via Sky on March 12th. Current was set up in the US by Al Gore and launched August 1 2005 and are the first national network created by, for and with an 18-34 year-old audience.

Roughly 30% of Currents output comes from their “Viewer Created Content” also knon as (VC2) initiative which invites independent or professional filmmakers and audience members to submit short form non-fiction ‘pods’ to the channel. These pods, anywhere between 5 and 15 minutes in length, are submitted to the website and then the internet audience votes to ‘greenlight’ their favourite pods to be shown on television. The broadcast format itself is highly innovative - a short form shuffle format of 5-15 minute pods, that feels uniquely like a conversation with the viewer.

Visit Currents websites for more details - current.tv for the US, and uk.current.com for the UK site ( currently still under construction) and also to get details of the Uk Launch Contest!
