Please find below the new updated timetable for Animation and Design Courses at the LightHouse.

Level 2: Start date 13 Jun 07
3 days per week
Wed – Fri, 10am-4pm (8 weeks)
Traditional Animation Level 2
Covering a range of key animation skills including timing, movement, sound and preparation of artwork for 2D and 3D projects, this course will not only develop practical animation skills but should also provide students with the knowledge and skills with which to pitch ideas to clients and to manage projects through every stage of the production process. It is envisaged that those who pursue the Level 1 qualification will progress through to the Level 2 qualification.

Mon, Fri, Sat, 10am-4pm (6 weeks)
Foundation in Computer Graphics Level 1
The course is aimed at those looking for an introduction to 3D computer graphics. Using Autodesk 3ds Max, students will learn fundamental modelling, texturing and animation techniques. The course will also cover basic storyboarding and animation principals. Students will be encouraged to develop their own ideas and to work towards a short portfolio piece. This course provides an excellent starting point to ideally progress onto the more advanced Level 2 course (below).

Mon, Fri, Sat 10am-4pm (6 weeks)
3D Computer Graphics (Advanced) Level 2
Using Autodesk 3D Studio Max, this course is a continuation of the Foundation in Computer Graphics and will introduce more advanced concepts in the creation of computer graphics. As in Level 1, students will be encouraged to develop their own ideas and to work towards a short portfolio piece.

3 days per week
Mon, Fri, Sat, 10am-4pm (8 weeks)
Interactive Multimedia Level 2
Using Macromedia Flash and Macromedia Director, this course will introduce students to the creation of interactive computer-based applications. The course will teach graphic design skills, web-based animation techniques and basic computer scripting. Students will learn how to use existing images and video within their work and will be expected to follow a design brief to develop their own ideas. At the end of the course, students will present their work either on the web or create an interactive DVD.

Start date 7 Jan ‘08
3 days per week
Mon, Fri, Sat, 10am-4pm (9 weeks)
Character Animation Level 1 & 2
The course is aimed at those looking for an introduction to 3D computer graphics and is focused on the creation of a 3D generated character. Using Autodesk 3D Studio Max, students will learn fundamental modelling, texturing and animation techniques suitable for character generation. Students will be encouraged to develop their own ideas and to work towards a short portfolio piece.

Eligibility: To be eligible for these courses, applicants must be aged 19+, residing in Birmingham, the Black Country and Hereford & Worcestershire and be unemployed.
