Submissions are now being accepted for the Audi Channel Reel Talent Awards. Created and produced by The Hospital, this outstanding award provides a truly unique opportunity for aspiring filmmakers.
Free to enter, the competition is for 3 prizes worth more than £10,000 each to turn your script into a 5-minute short film. The deadline for submissions is 16 March 2007. Full entry rules and an application form can be found on reeltalentaward.co.uk.
Following the huge success of last year’s award which resulted in the BAFTA-nominated Heavy Metal Drummer and Love Letter starring Jaime Winstone, original screenplays that demonstrate how the theme “FIRST” shapes and inspires the story are now being accepted.
The ‘FIRST’ theme for this year’s awards, along with the unique nature of the awards, fits perfectly with Audi Channel’s involvement: Audi Channel was the first channel of its kind. In turn, those firsts are in keeping with Audi’s long history of innovation in the world of motoring and its commitment to ‘Vorsprung Durch Technik’.
The winners also attend an intensive script development course at The Hospital run by The Hospital and leading filmmakers’ organization The Script Factory where they will receive invaluable advice from major directors, producers and screenwriters. They will also receive the full support throughout development and production of award-winning producers, Intrepido, who will act as Executive Producers on the films. Finally the winners will also gain access to The Hospital’s state-of-the-art studios and production facilities.
The judges for this year’s awards will be an impressive line-up of renowned figures from the British film industry including award-winning producer Andrea Calderwood, film composer David Arnold, BIFA-winning writer/director Neil Hunter and critics Charles Gant and Jonathan Romney. The three winning films will premiere at a VIP event at The Hospital in Covent Garden in October 2007 prior to showcasing at major UK film festivals. One film will then be selected to receive additional financial and administrative support to enter a series of international film festivals.
