CAFÉDIRECT SEEKS FILM INDUSTRY TALENT FOR BIG-SCREEN TRILOGY

Fairtrade pioneers Cafédirect are seeking talent from the film and television industries to partner on a groundbreaking and ambitious film project – a trilogy of revolutionary feature-length films that will impact on pressing social, economic, political and environmental issues on a global scale.

Film and TV companies, writers, directors, producers and actors are invited to become involved in the development and production of one or more of ‘The Trilogy’, three large-scale productions for commercial release that will project a vision of the future based on the current climate.

The genesis of the films’ narratives will stem from the real and predicted lives of the people on the front line of the poorest countries in the world, reflecting the issues that affect the world at large – climate change, drugs, civil war, emigration, slavery and prostitution.  With the story, location, vision and genre to be determined by the collaborators on each feature, there will be huge scope for those involved to tell uniquely compelling stories that have the power to drive change.

Whether high action thrillers, gritty cinema-verite, optimistic romances or dystopian tragedies; whether set in the corridors of power in Washington and Whitehall or the plantations of the Andes or Kilimanjaro – the resulting films, dramatic and entertaining, will enlighten and empower audiences.

Development funding for The Trilogy is already in place, and now Cafédirect is looking for established industry professionals to lead the productions, as well as emerging talent to support in all areas from script to screen.  There are also opportunities for corporations and foundations to support the project, with Cafédirect welcoming investment and sponsorship ideas from those with an interest in the issues.

Interested companies are asked to email marcus.fergusson@hostuniversal.com while individuals are invited to register their interest at www.thetrilogy.org

“Film is such a compelling medium, and there’s a history of films that have positively changed the world, galvanized people into action and had powerful effects on real people. Cafédirect is really a tool for change, a progressive trading model, and the opportunity here to do something groundbreaking is inspiring. Can you imagine the partnerships, literally spanning the globe, and creating lasting change? Amazing.”  – Zachary Dominitz, Head of Corporate Affairs, Cafédirect
