Black International Film Festival Calls for nominations.
Following on from last year’s success the Black International Film Festival (BIFF) 2008 will be bringing an eclectic mix of Film, Music, ‘Live’ Arts and Education in the form of seminars, exhibitions and master-classes to Birmingham between 29 Oct to the 2 Nov.
BIFF are now calling for nominations for the festival’s Movie Video Screen Awards whose winners will be announced in a lavish ceremony at the International Convention Centre, Birmingham on 1st Nov.
Nomination is open to any films with ethnic themed stories or with ethnic characters in lead roles across all genres (fiction, documentary, shorts, animation, features), ethnic artistes (singers/actors/actresses/presenters), and urban music (R&B/ Soul/ Hip Hop/ Reggae/ Dancehall/ Grime and any other urban influenced music not mentioned).
To be eligible for nominations films and music must have been released to the UK public within the Awards qualifying year, between 1st July 2007 to 31st July 2008. This includes music downloads, and any other official music medium. Films must be available for the MVSA board to screen in full edited capacity (final version) by 1st Aug 2008. All nominations received will be placed before the MVSA board for consideration.

Emerging Young Film-Maker Award
BIFF Preferred Music Video Award (given to the most popular video shown at the festival)
BIFF Most Creative Music Video (given to the most popular creative video shown at the festival)
Best UK Actor
Best UK Actress
Best UK Actor/ess in Comedy Role
Most Popular UK TV Presenter (Public Vote Included)
Most Memorable UK Music Video 2007 – 2008 (Public Vote Included)
Best International Music Video
Best Regional Film
BIFF Award - Best ‘Short’ Film (given to the most popular short-film screened at the festival)
Best UK Film Award
BIFF Award - Best International Film (given to the most popular Int’l film screened at the festival)
Best Black Theatre Production (Public Vote Included)
MVSA Westmore Ezekiel Honorary Award
