Heavy Metal in Baghdad (15)
Saturday 25th October 6.00pm
The Courtyard, Hereford
Heavy metal is rife with apocalyptic imagery. Still, it's a safe bet no one has ever faced the challenges endured by Iraq's only thrash-metal band Acrassicauda. They live in a world where death stalks the streets, chaos and mindless destruction is all around, but where Metallica T-shirts invite harassment, and head-banging is forbidden - supposedly for its resemblance to Jewish prayer. Following the band from the fall of Saddam to the present day as they struggle to keep their dream of heavy metal stardom alive, this poignant documentary explores what 'freedom of expression' really means. The killer is the band had more freedom to rock under Saddam than in the US-imposed 'democracy'.
Arctic Monkeys Live at the Apollo (PG)
Saturday 25th October 8:00 pm
The Courtyard, Hereford
This is your only chance to see this stunning show that captures the memorable last gig in the Arctic Monkeys' acclaimed world tour 2007. Top of the range sound recording and high definition digital immerses you in the style and force of the UK's most striking band as they deliver one of their most intense performances to date. Arctic Monkeys also give an exclusive, personal introduction to the film that captures the essence of their music.
Film screenings at The Courtyard are part of the Hello Digital @ Hereford programme, a dazzling array of digital creativity - from the latest and best digital movies, inspirational workshops on VJing, digital photography and animation, talks by leading edge directors and youtube luvvies to cutting edge installations and art movies. Visit the Hello Digital at Hereford website for the full programme.
