BFM INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
bfm International Film Festival from the 29th September – 8th October brings an insightful line-up of films guaranteed to keep movie-goers entertained. They take you on a tour of Black World Cinema. Highlights will be a special opening night gala premiere screening of the film Idlewild, A musical set in the Prohibition-era American South starring André Benjamin, Four Brothers, Paula Patton and Ben Vereen.
From the US they also bring Diary of a Tired Black Man, First-time filmmaker Tim Alexander, who enjoys being provocative, says there’s a disease out there that he calls the “angry black woman syndrome” that must be identified, diagnosed and treated. Is this film the response to films like Diary of Mad Black Woman? Join the debate on black relationships you decide?
The festival also will feature box office Tyler Perry hits Diary of a Mad Black Woman starring Kimberley Elise and the sequel Madea Family Reunion starring Tyler Perry and Blair Underwood. The festival will have exclusive question and answer sessions with directors following some screenings. The festival will feature films that explore the musical expression of *Hip Hop, Reggae, Soca, and Hollywood, aspects of Afro-Brazilian and Latin culture**, revival of faith films, African storytelling and a UK Talent shorts programme that will be held at both AMC Birmingham and the Light House showcase Midlands filmmaking talent.
